A Stunning Sunrise over the Mediterranean Sea Sends Us Northwards

As we've written before, taking the time to fully appreciate a sunset is one of the most beautiful simple pleasures we've enjoyed rediscovering on our adventure. However, this morning, as we took our first steps on our journey northwards, we were able to appreciate our very first sunrise over the Mediterranean sea which left feeling alive and elated.

After our final goodbyes to our friends on Camping Los Escullos we made the short journey to the motorhome aire in La Isleta del Moro late the previous afternoon in preparation for the first stage of our long drive northwards. One of the most idyllic places to wake up that we've discovered, this peaceful beachfront aire created the perfect frame for the sunrise to play out over, looking out over a small curved sandy beach, bookended by rocky cliffs and the vast expanse of water stretching away to the glowing horizon. As a soft orange light spread across the scattered clouds, turning pink, then bright red and stretching closer towards us as the sun burst out over the sea, we felt so connected to the world around us and full of energy for our long drive ahead. The tiny fishing boats bobbing slowly across the horizon created a sense of the scale of the scene before us. It was the perfect way to begin our journey and we've picked out some of our favourite pictures to share.
