Apartment Bon Sejour - A Fantastic Place To Stay in Grimentz, Val d'Anniviers

During our summer adventures of 2016 we stayed in many places. In a tent pitched in the shadow of Mont Blanc, on a boat overlooking the river Nile, in an apartment on the Adriatic Sea. Yet for a combination of comfort and convenience alongside the freedom of the great outdoors it is difficult to think of somewhere more ideal than our stay in Apartment Bon Sejour in Grimentz. As anyone browsing our blog will know we just love spending time in the Val d'Anniviers in the Swiss Alps. Ever since our first trip there in summer 2014 we felt it was an energetic home for us and thanks to Shirley and Robin we were able to rent this wonderful apartment and stay pretty much the whole of October this year enjoying the mountains, clean air and clean water all from their lovely apartment. That is why we felt moved to say how grateful we were to them for all the care and attention they have put in to providing such a wonderful homely place to be based from in this amazing valley.  We wanted to share a few words about the apartment itself for anyone thinking of visiting Switzerland or this area in the future.

Translating as "Have A Good Stay", the facilities at Bon Sejour offer everything you need and more for a relaxing time in the Swiss Alps: 2 comfortable bedrooms (one double, one twin), toilet, bathroom, spacious open plan lounge/diner and kitchen area, 2 balconies overlooking the surrounding hills and secure parking in the underground garage. The owners, Shirley and Robin, have put so much thought, care and attention into the apartment for guests, providing all utensils, crockery, plug adaptors, games, books, DVDs, CDs, big TV with all the chanels, WiFi....we really wanted for nothing during our stay. From helpful instructions on how things work to notes on where local services could be found, we felt welcome from the moment we arrived and collected the keys. In fact, more than that, we felt welcome from the moment we got in touch with Shirley and Robin who were incredibly responsive and couldn't do enough to help us before and during our stay over email and telephone.

Location wise Apartment Bon Sejour is just across the road from the Grimentz cable car station and just a few hundred metres from the Grimentz Telecabine bus stop. Basically, this means that if you walk out of the front door and turn left you reach both the Bendolla Cable car station, the Sorebois cable car station or the Grimentz Telecabine bus station allowing you to reach any of the other picturesque villages in the Val d'Anniviers (St Luc, Vissoie, Zinal, Ayer, Chandolin and more). Being able to reach such high altitudes (over 2700m in places) without strenuous hiking makes the stunning slopes of this beautiful valley, with over 100k of hiking trails, incredibly accessible to all visitors.

Alternatively if you step out of the door and turn right you get to enjoy a stroll through the stunning village of Grimentz, along the narrow main street lined with sun blackened houses decorated with red Geraniums.  We definitely agree with the tourist guides say this is one of the most beautiful villages in the Swiss Alps.

Plus, if the location and facilities weren't enough, our stay in Bon Sejour apartment also included the fantastic Liberte Pass for each of us (valid June - end October), providing free access to all of the valley bus services, most cable cars, mini-golf, tennis Courts, Zinal indoor swimming pool (and wow what a swimming pool), Vissoie outdoor swimming pool, funicular railway in St Luc and a host of other free access to tours around local sights. I really cannot overstate how awesome this pass is. During a 2 week stay in September 2014 we estimated that we used more than £400 worth of buses, cable cars etc. all for free with the Liberte Pass. You can read more about the pass and detailed list of discounts here: http://www.valdanniviers.ch/tourism/pass-anniviers-liberte-804.html

I've included the links to a few other Val d'Annivers articles below and would encourage anybody  considering a visit to Switzerland or this region to get in touch with Shirley and Robin via their website at http://www.grimentzswitzerland.co.uk/
