November in Holland - Family Visits, Greeting Sint Nicholas and a Trip to Nottingham

Wow.. so it's been more than a month since we last posted.  Since leaving the Autumn festival in Orpierre, several hours were spent on the road with many driving songs sung as we headed North, crossing several borders to return to Holland.  It just felt the right time to visit family, particularly Oma and there were several reasons why this year we decided to drive back as opposed to Esther flying.  We never expected to stay more than a month but as with much of our adventure this year, we weren't making plans.  Although a little chilly, it was a refreshing change to be back based along the North Sea coast near Kijkduin.  With Oma we enjoyed many green 'borels', nights playing trinomios, walks in the park and times just spent peacefully together.  Esther's Mum and Dad joined us for beach walks and some family time together.  They stayed longer than expected to spend some more time with Esther whilst Dan boarded a plane from Amsterdam to East Midlands to visit his own family for a week.  During the month we also had several fun visits to our friends at the bio market and shops in Den Haag as well as being in Holland at the time of Sint Nicholas; reliving childhood memories as we greeted and later celebrated the Sint's birthday.  So this unexpected trip led to a month of family fun and sampling many Autumn root vegetables - reinforcing what a very different trip it is for us this year!

In the next few posts we want to keep a record of some of the highlights but we've decided to let the photos do most of the talking about our time in Holland...
